    2000年3月26日，天气不错，中午休息了一会儿，请了个假，就出发
了，坐地铁到衡山路下，到上海领事馆后，门口几乎没有人，平常下午是不签
证的，看来领事馆预约的就是不一样。
    14:00钟放人进去了，发现里面的状况发生了变化，加了个透视机。签证
厅里就我们八个人，4号窗口打开，把我们的材料收了进去，然后开始了漫长
的等待。
    15:00，2号窗口终于开了，是一位和蔼的美国大叔，有鲁迅般的胡子。想
不到第一个就是拒签，好象和香港那边的亲戚有关系。后面一个女孩子签B1给
我们带来了好运气，听她说英语，我有点紧张。觉得口里很干，就含一口水在
嘴里。我居然是最后一个，前面的都过了，都是B1，B2。
    以下是面试过程：(文中所有英语对白均为回忆整理，只能保证大意正确，
与原文并不都符合。)

Me: Good afternoon, sir.
Uncle: Good afternoon.
Uncle: Are you working in this Mediostream company?
Me: Yes.
Uncle: How long do you stay in this company?
Me: (赶快算，差一点就要扳手指头了) Four months.
Uncle: Where have you been before this company?
Me: Huawei corporation.
Uncle: (显然没听到过...) What?
Me: Huawei corporation, a software company.
Uncle: Ok. How did you know the project in this university?
Me: I searched on Internet and found this position, and then I
directly sent e-mails to my advisor, who is the professor at the UofL.
Uncle: Ok. What is your degree?
Me: Doctor.
Uncle: Which university?
Me: Fudan university. I take the diploma with me.
(打开学位证书给他看，可偏偏内页就掀不开，急 ...)
Uncle: (凑上来看，找...) Where is the university?
Me: (指给他看... ) Here, Fudan university.
Uncle: (用手指头指着找 ...) Where is the major?
Me: Here, double E.
Uncle: Ok, do you have any publication?
Me: Yes, of course, I take them with me.
(抽出我厚厚的paper...)
Uncle: Do you have paper on biological or ??? journal?
Me: Yes, I have two papers on biological journal.
(把所有的paper塞进去)
Uncle: (开始看第一页...)
Me: This is an international conference.
Uncle: Where is it?
Me: America.
Uncle: Did you go to it?
Me: No, I haven't.
Me: (赶快纠正)I didn't.
Uncle: (往后翻.... 往后翻....)
Me: This is a draft, I think after some modifications it can be
published on international journal.
Uncle: Is this the topic of your doctoral work?
Me: Yes.
Uncle: (往后翻....)
Me: This is a biological journal.
Uncle: Where do your wife work?
Me: (我听到了wife这个词，但觉得他好象不会一下转题，于是给他个询问的
表情)
Uncle: ^%$%$&*^& wife (**(*( do...
Me: (听着还是象wife，但可能是after，都有一个f音，于是字正腔圆地甩出
我的八股文) I will come back to China and find an academic position
at a leading university in China.
Uncle: (脑袋摇得象拨浪鼓) no, no, I mean where your wife work?
Me: (知道真是转题了，但想不起那公司的英文名子了，前天还想着要再看一下)
Hmm.. En.. %&*@*$ corporation.
Uncle: Ahh..., Ok. (很明显他不知道那是那里，但也不关心我的答案)
Uncle: (采用非常温柔的语气) Will your wife go with you?
Me: (对此陷阱早有准备) If possible, she will come to see me, if
possible.
Uncle: You have one child?
Me: Yes.
Uncle: Ok.... (开始思考并在OF156表上写....)
Uncle: Ok. I approve your visa.
Me: (觉得很放松) Thank you very much!!
Uncle: (已经开始在IAP66表上签字了)&*^&*^%^%^&%^(*&(*&*(&*(&#(*&#*
Me: (对他的话根本不在意了，以为是祝我在美国生活愉快) ……
Uncle: Do you understand?
Me: (faint, 一双迷茫的眼睛深情注视着他) ……
Uncle: I approve your visa, but I must check your material. You can
come here to get it ten to twenty days later.
Me: Oh, ok, thank you. (比起拒签来，要好千万倍了，知足了)
Uncle: (抄起那枚让人心惊胆战的大章，"啪"地砸在我的签证费发票上)
Remember to take this ticket.
Me: (忽然非常想和大叔聊聊，再多说几句吧) You will phone me?
Uncle: Yeah, I will call you.
Me: When?
Uncle: Ten to twenty days later.
Me: To my home or my company?
Uncle: Either.
Me: Ok, thank you.

    然后坐回长椅上收拾东西，手有点抖，一张纸怎么也塞不进去，旁边的MM
帮忙，真不好意思；另一MM对我的diploma感兴趣，要过去看看，旁边两个
B1的家伙也跟我套磁，居然向我推销他们的保龄球。他们都比我幸福，马上就
可以拿签证了。
    推开那两重厚厚的铁门，终于又回到了祖国的蓝天下.....
