Group Overview    Using our voices to communicate continues to be the most nat
ural and the easiest way to exchange ideas and thoughts. At MSR Asia, the Spee
ch Group is working hard to turn their ideas into reality and improve spoken-l
anguage technologies, enable human-computer voice interaction, and enrich huma
n-to-human voice communications. The group’s current focus includes speech re
cognition to enable computers to facilitate access to data, help create conten
t, and perform tasks; speech synthesis to enable computers to speak with a hum
an-sounding voice, to respond and provide information, and to read; and spoken
-document retrieval and processing to enrich communication between people.
Roles & Responsibilities    Speech Group welcomes students working on the proj
ects for a period of minimally three months.
Required Qualifications    We are looking for:
    Ph.D or M.S candidate;
    Majored in EE is preferred;
    Good knowledge of Information Theory;
    Strong C/C++ coding skills;
    Good technical reading and written in English.
